Carline Brouwer named Best Director

The German magazine Musicals which appears in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, has honored the musical Sister Act with an astonishing four awards. Not only have the readers of the magazine voted for Sister Act to be Best Musical of the year, Dutch Carline Brouwer was declared Best Director. Zodwa Selele (Deloris) took home the award for Best Actress in a Musical and Anthony van Laast the award for Best Choreographer.
The German production of Sister Act premièred a year ago on the 2nd of December in the Operettenhaus in Hamburg. It was the first time this soulful musical could be seen in Europe outside of London (Palladium Theatre, 2 June 2009).
Since then Stage Entertainment has brought the musical to Broadway (Broadway Theatre, 20 April 2011), Vienna (Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, 15 September 2011) and Manchester (start of the UK tour on the 4th of October).
The first upcoming première of Sister Act will take place on the 27th of October in Milan. New productions have been planned in France, Canada and North-America.
The musical Sister Act is a coproduction of Stage Entertainment and Whoopi Goldberg who played Deloris in the highly successful movie.
