Here is where your challenge starts:
As Group Risk & Internal Control Manager you will be responsible for Risk & Internal Control through amongst others embedding a risk control framework and effective policies and procedures. You will be the trusted business partner for the senior management teams in the countries, the Management Board and the Chief Audit Executive of Advance Publication (our shareholder). This critical role in the Group Finance team interacts with all key departments in the Group and reports directly to the Director Group Control.
Specific responsibilities:
Add value to the organization by further designing and embedding control frameworks and thereby reducing risks;
Testing effectiveness of controls jointly with the country teams and the Advance Risk Advisory team;
Monitor and advice business process owners on action plans for remediation of deficient controls on a timely basis;
Identify opportunities to increase efficiency and improve the existing internal control framework and apply these changes in all countries;
Jointly with Group IT ensure the adequateness of general IT controls;
Drive financial policies and ensuring compliance with laws and regulation;
Support other departments (HR and Legal) on control and compliance policies and procedures;
Identify and mitigate possibilities for fraud and follow-up any fraud cases.
Manage the relationship with the Advance Risk Advisory team;
On time and high quality deliverables to Advance;
Perform the annual risk assessment with the Advance Risk Advisory team.
Ensure a smooth annual external audit for Risk & Compliance related subjects;
Provide input for Board of Directors risk paragraph in the annual report.
Represent Internal Controls in Audit & Risk committees;
Prepare periodic reports for key stakeholders such as senior management;
Ensure accurate and adequate security set-up for Workday (ERP & HR system) and Ticketing platform;
Spot opportunities with internal- and external benchmarking;
Assist to drive change through implementation of process improvements;
Be a trusted valued business partner.
Qualifications and experience:
Master’s degree in economic studies (Finance or Accounting);
Minimum of 4-6 years relevant working experience (preferable audit);
Big 4 experience is a plus;
Knowledge of MS Office;
Knowledge of Workday security is a plus;
Energetic team player and clear communicator;
Hands-on, pro-active and pragmatic, attention to detail with a passion for quality;
Impactful, ability to pursue change to realize results;
Self-starter;
Strong analytical skills;
Fluent in English (both verbal and written).
